چکیده

Methods From April 2008 to March 2010, at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT), electronic microbiological records of patients with SAB were linked with patient administration data to determine if the S. aureus was meticillin-sensitive or resistant, and if infection was CA or HA. SAB within 2 days of admission was defined as CA, 2 days or more after admission as HA and a new episode if more than 2 weeks between 2 positive SAB.

Rapid detection of epidemic strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Fifty methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) initial isolates obtained from patients hospitalized in the orthopedic clinic of the Frankfurt University Hospital and 150 methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) isolates were investigated in this study to determine whether the Slidex Staph-Kit is capable of differentiating between MRSA and MSSA owing to its unique performance...

Short communication: methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus detection in US bulk tank milk.

Staphylococcus aureus is a major cause of mastitis in dairy cattle. This study estimated the herd prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staph. aureus (MRSA) among US dairy herds by testing bulk tank milk (BTM) samples using genotypic and phenotypic methods. A nationally representative sample of 542 operations had BTM cultured for Staph. aureus, and 218 BTM samples were positive upon initial cultu...

Status of Biofilm-Forming Genes among Jordanian Nasal Carriers of Methicillin-Sensitive and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Introduction: Biofilm formation in Staphylococcus aureus is a major virulence factor. Both methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are common causes of community- and hospital-acquired infections and are associated with biofilm formation. The status of biofilm-forming genes has not been explored in Jordanian nasal carriers of S. ...
